Case of the Orange fine, retried

The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) sent for a retrial the file in which Orange Romania appealed against the RON 147.98 fine ordered by the Competition Council (CC) in February 2011, the institution informs. In the first half of April, ICCJ sent for a retrial the case in which Vodafone Romania appealed against the RON 120.35 M fine ordered by CC in February 2011. The Council fined the mobile telephony operators Orange Romania and Vodafone Romania, in February 2011, with the sum of RON 268.33 M (EUR 63 M) for abusing their dominant position. In the case of Orange Romania, the fine amounted to RON 147.98 M and represented 3.6 pc of the company turnover in 2010. In the case of Vodafone Romania, the fine was set at 3.45 pc of the turnover, amounting to RON 120.35 M.
