EU Commissioner for consumer protection in Bucharest, June 5–6

The European Commissioner for consumer protection Neven Mimica is in Bucharest on an official visit on June 5-6, the European Commission announced in a release this Wednesday.
The high European official met Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, Chamber of Deputies’ Speaker Valeriu Zgonea, and Minister of Economy Constantin Nita. Commissioner Mimica will also meet with the president of the National Authority for Consumer Protection Marius Alexandru Dunca. The talks will focus on the implementation of consumer protection policies, the observance and enforcement of the relevant legislation, as well as increasing administrative capacity and consumer empowerment. Commissioner Mimica also attended an event dedicated to the rights of airline passengers, organized by the European Consumer Centre at the ‘Henri Coanda’ international airport, and will meet with students of the ‘Ecaterina Teodoroiu’ National College in Targu Jiu, who won the second prize in the European Consumer Classroom 2014 inter-school competition.
On Friday Commissioner Mimica will hold a press conference at the headquarters of the European Commission representation. The press conference will deal with the coming in force of the Consumer Rights Directive and the release of the latest relevant Eurobarometer survey conducted in Romania, the release also states.
