The second edition of the Asian Film Festival, organized by Mandragora Movies in cooperation with the Chinese Film Association, will take place from June 13 to June 16 at the New Cinema of the Romanian Film Director (NCRR), inside the Romanian Peasant Museum. According to a release, quoted by AGERPRES, the selection of movies includes both local productions such as the historical drama ‘Back to 1942’ starring Zhang Guoli, Fiona Wang, Adrien Brody or the comedies ‘Meet the Inlaws’ with Xu Zheng, Benz Hui and ‘Love’ with Zhao Wei playing the leading role, as well as co-productions such as ‘33 Postcards’ starring Guy Pearce and Zhu Lin, which won a double nomination at the Australian Film Institute (2013). In addition, a special screening of the movie ‘Back to 1942’ will take place on June 16 at Grand Cinema & More in Baneasa Shopping City, partner of the event, in the presence of a Chinese delegation including directors of the biggest Chinese film production companies and members of the Film Association in Zhejiang and of the Literary Federation from Zhejiang. Mandragora Movies is one of the most important film production companies in Romania. The company produced the movies ‘Beyond the Hills’, by Cristian Mungiu, awarded three times at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, ‘Diaz – don’t clean up this blood’ by Daniele Vicari, winner of the Panorama audience award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2012. Since 2013, Mandragora Movies has been organizing the event with the purpose of developing cultural exchanges between the two countries, producing large-scale films and releasing Romanian movies in China.
