PM: EU member states in the region support European route of R. of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine

The EU member states in the region support the European route of the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine, said PM Victor Ponta after the meeting he held in the Danube Delta with the PMs in Moldova, Georgia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Serbia. He said the prime minister of Ukraine was supposed to be present as well, but he could not participate anymore. “Romania wants that …the European route, especially for Moldova, for Georgia, for Ukraine, for Serbia … there are major and correct decisions and we, who already are in the EU, either Slovakia, Romania or the Czech Republic, are able and will do everything in our powers to support them become EU members as fast as possible,” said Ponta. The Romanian PM said he is positive the prime minister in the region will advertise the Danube Delta, saying he took them in a trip on the Delta channels.
The prime ministers of the Republic of Moldova Iurie Leanca, Georgia’s Irakli Garibashvili, Slovakia’s Robert Fico, the Czech Republic’s Bohuslav Sobotka and Serbia’s Alexandar Vucic take part in a meeting in the Danube Delta (eastern Romania) on June 20-22 on an invitation of Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the Government’s press office has announced on Saturday. The event will enable the participants to swap informal views of topical issues on the European and regional agenda, particularly the developments in the Eastern Neighbourhood, the release added. ‘’The main goal of the meeting is to coordinate the positions, discuss the recent developments in the Eastern Partnership and the concrete manner in which the European Union states back the European track of the partner countries. The prime ministers will hail the preparations for signing the (EU) Association Agreement and Free Trade Agreement by the Republic of Moldova and Georgia on June 27 and will discuss the implementation steps,’ the Government said.
