Head of Premier’s chancellery, heard at DNA

Vlad Stoica, the head of the Premier’s Chancellery, was heard on Wednesday at the DNA as a witness in the case in which former Mehedinti County Council Chairman Adrian Duicu is charged with influence peddling, Mediafax informs. Stoica did not make any comments on his arrival at the DNA headquarters. Adrian Duicu, the suspended chairman of the Mehedinti County Council and Stefan Ponea, the former head of the Mehedinti County Police Inspectorate are investigated for corruption. According to the criminal prosecution ordinance, Duicu allegedly promised Ponea that he will use his influence to determine the members of the government, the public servants from within the Interior Ministry’s leadership and Romanian Police Chief Petre Toba to maintain Ponea in the office of chief inspector of the Mehedinti County Police Inspectorate and to illegally offer him, through a member of the Ponea family, two plots of land in central Orsova. ‘Gandul’ daily wrote, quoting the DNA prosecutors’ report, that Adrian Duicu was engaging in influence peddling right from the antechamber of Victor Ponta’s office at the Victoria Palace.
