Gov’t: First round of presidential elections on November 2, second round on November 16

At the Government meeting on Thursday, Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced that the Executive would adopt a resolution scheduling the first round of the presidential election for November 2 and the second round, for November 16.
‘The government resolution with the date [of the presidential elections] is also [on the agenda]: November 2, November 16, the presidential elections,’ the Prime Minister said.
The Executive also discussed on Thursday’s session about the amendment of the law for the election of Romania’s President.
More precisely, the Gov’t was scheduled to adopt an Emergency Ordinance on amending the Law on electing the President of Romania, by which special polling stations are to be eliminated. In addition to the elimination of special vote centers, the ordinance regulates the possibility for voters, who on the day of the vote are in a village, town, or municipality different from their place of residence, to vote in any polling station.
