The global sales of cars under the Dacia brand of the Renault group soared by 24.3 pc in the first six months, to 263,110 units, making up the bulk of the 4.7 pc advance to 1.37 million automobiles sold by the French automaker. The sales of Dacia automobiles went up 22.7 pc to 245.553 units, while those of light commercial vehicles advanced by 52.9 pc, to 17,557 units, the French group announced. The number of cars (automobiles and light commercial vehicles) sold under the Renault brand stagnated to 1.063 million, while those under the brand Renault Samsung Motors went up 33 pc, to 38,770 units. In Europe, the sales of the French group advanced by 18 pc, almost three times faster than the market, to 776,236 vehicles. Deliveries increased significantly in almost all European countries. The strongest advance was registered in Portugal – 68 pc, Great Britain – 65 pc, Ireland – 52 pc, Spain – 35 pc and the Nordic Countries – 37 pc. The group’s sales outside Europe decreased by 9 pc, to 589,182 units, because of the economic and financial problems in the main emergent markets of Renault. For the whole year 2014, Renault expects an increase of the European market by 3-4 pc. The group anticipates it will gain market share in Europe, while global sales will advance, driven by the models Clio, Captur, Sandero and Duster, as well as the launching of the new versions of Twingo and Trafic, and the introduction at international scale of the models Logan and Sandero.
