Romania president earned RON 77,960 in 2013 salary

President Traian Basescu wrote in his wealth statement for 2013, recently posted on the web site of the Presidency, less cash than in 2012, in accounts opened in various banks, but higher values of paintings, jewels and watches. The president’s wealth statement, filled for year 2013, was signed on 11 June 2014 and posted on the site of the Presidential Administration.
Thus, President Basescu earned RON 77,960 in overall income in 2013 from his salary, according to his wealth statement. He also got EUR 3,700 and USD 1,200 in money assigned for his travels abroad last year. Basescu holds deposit accounts and current accounts at banks ING Bank, UniCredit Tiriac Bank and BCR. He has a EUR 510 deposit at ING Bank as well as two US dollar-denominated deposits – 1,533 USD and 2,431 USD respectively. At UniCredit Tiriac Bank the president has a 46,273 dollars deposit and a 49 dollars current account. He has a 7,251 lei BCR card and a 0.42 lei BCR deposit. The Romanian leader also owns paintings put at some EUR 19,000, watches worth around EUR 45,000 and jewellery worth EUR 25,000.
The president’s wealth statement remained unchanged in the ‘lands and buildings’ chapter, also in relation to automobiles. According to the document, the family of president Traian Basescu owns an apartment in Bucharest, with an in-built surface of 370 sq m and a useful surface of 250 sq m, and a 30 sq m garage. The head of state also owns an apartment in Constanta, since 2011, which he inherited from parents, with a surface of 46.9 sq m he president and his wife own a quota of 31.5 pc from a land with an area of 46.9 sq m and another plot of 46 sq m of land, both situated in Bucharest and acquired in 2003.
The president also owns a Ford BMax and a Dacia Duster car, according to the website.
