As many as 2,053 foreign-owned commercial companies were registered in Romanian in the first four months of 2014, with the underwritten capital totalling RON 3.339 billion (EUR 742.136 million), show figures centralized by the National Institute for Statistics released on Monday. Since 1991 till this April 30 there have been 194,469 foreign-owned firms registered in Romania, with underwritten share capital totalling RON 132.824 billion (EUR 38.434 billion). A number of 503 companies running on foreign capital were registered in April, totalling RON 28.032 million (EUR 6.282 million) in underwritten capital. Most foreign-owned companies were registered in Bucharest in April – 166, with a total RON 25.286 million capital, in the nearby Ilfov County – 46, with RON 1.861 million total capital and in western Timis County – 39, with RON 9,000 capital. Most foreign investors in April came from Italy – 128, China – 40, Germany – 32, Turkey – 29, Hungary – 25 and France – 23, the Institute said.
