“Filantropica” movie by Nae Caranfil on August 6 in Budapest

The event commemorates famous actor Gheorghe Dinica.

The feature film “Filantropica” directed by Nae Caranfil will be screened at the Film Club of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Budapest under the slogan “Dinica, 80+” on August 6, reports the institution. The movie “Filantropica” stars the late Gheorghe Dinica, one of the most versatile Romanian actors of our days who would have celebrated 80 years this year.
The programme “Film Klub” aims to bring to the public’s attention major names of the Romanian film, through screenings or memorable cinema interpretations.
Animated by Gheorghe Dinica starring in it, Nae Caranfil’s feature film released in 2002 enjoyed international appreciation, proved by the prizes it was awarded, the jury prize at the International Film Festival in Mons, the public prize at the Film Festival in Paris, the special jury prize at the goEast Festival in Wiesbaden (2002) and the public prize at the “International Film Weekend” in Wurzburg (2003).
Gheorghe Dinica was one of the major Romanian actors. He made his acting debut in the movie “The Stranger” in 1963 and he had played in more than 60 movies ever since (The afternoon of a torturer, Filantropica, the series of Police commissioner Moldovan, etc), TV series (Heart of a Gypsy) but also in theatre (“Take, Ianke and Cadar,” “In the name of the rose,” etc). He launched several music albums such as “Party songs,” and “Party songs 2” together with Stefan Iordache and Nelu Ploiesteanu.
