Piatra Neamt central square completely destroyed by fire

The central square of Piatra Neamt has been completely destroyed by a fire that started on Saturday night. Firefighters from the Neamt County Emergency Situation Inspectorate (ISU) intervened with 9 fire engines, putting the fire out after approximately four hours. According to Neamt County ISU representatives the fire started around 11.40 p.m., six officers and 82 NCOs responding to the scene with 9 fire engines. Volunteers also gave a hand. Firefighters managed to put the fire out after approximately four hours. A crew remained at the scene in order to prevent a rekindling. As a result of the powerful fire, Piatra Neamt’s Central Square, made up of a hall and a one-floor building was consumed by fire in its entirety. There were no injuries. Firefighters and policemen have started an investigation in order to establish what caused the fire. Fruits, vegetables and meat were sold in the Central Square, which is owned by the Piatra Neamt City Hall, and stores with various products were found on the first floor.
