Israeli ambassador meets with head of Senate Foreign Policy Committee

Chairman of the Senate’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Petru Filip on Tuesday met Israeli Ambassador to Romania Dan-Ben Eliezer, at the latter’s request, the main topic for discussion being the current political situation in the Middle East. According to a release of the abovementioned body on Wednesday remitted to Agerpres, the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs expressed his concern over the recent escalation of violence in the area. Petru Filip emphasized that the recent and dramatic deterioration of the humanitarian and security situations in the aforementioned region, as well as the continuing escalation of the conflict require immediate ceasefire efforts of all parties involved. ‘The chairman of the Senate Foreign Policy Committee expressed his and the Romanian Parliament’s full support to both Israeli and Palestinian sides’s efforts to identify a rapid solution to end the crisis that befell the crucially important relation between the State of Israel and the Palestinian Authority’, the release shows. The same source mentions that during the meeting appreciation was expressed for the parliamentary cooperation between Romania and the State of Israel, the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in the relations between the two countries was emphasized and among the topics discussed were aspects pertaining to dialogue between the Foreign Policy Committees of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies and the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of the Knesset.
