President Traian Basescu and Prime Minister Victor Ponta have been invited at the 22nd edition of the Summer Camp of Romanians Everywhere that was due to open on Monday in Izvoru Muresului (central Romania); the main theme of the works is ‘European Romania and Romanians at the European Union and NATO Frontier.’

Romanians Everywhere National Foundation chairman Eugen Popescu declared that approximately 100 attendants are expected – youths of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, leaders and representatives of the Romanian communities of Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria, Albania and the Republic of Moldova, Romanian journalists from neighbouring countries and the Balkans, members of the parliaments on both shores of the Prut River (the border between Romania and Moldova).

According to him, invitations have been sent to Basescu, Ponta, members of the parliament, ministers, main candidates in the presidential election of November. So far, neither the President nor the PM confirmed their presence at the event.

The representatives of the Romanian communities abroad attending the Summer University at Izvoru Muresului (Harghita County, central Romania) on Monday voiced their dissatisfaction with the fact that the Romanian state dignitaries did not participate on the first day of the works.

President of ‘Ariadnae Filum’ Association for Romanian Culture of Timoc Valley, Jurj Zavisa, underscored that the Romanians living in that area need concrete measures from the Romanian state, not just visits from the dignitaries.
