The closing ceremony of the joint Romanian-Canadian military exercise Dacian Flag will take place on Friday at the 71st Airbase in Campia Turzii (central Romania), a release of the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) remitted on Thursday to Agerpres informs.
On May 7, six CF-18 Hornet fighter jets of the Royal Canadian Air Forces, together with air crews and technical crews, arrived at the 71st Airbase in Campia Turzii and participated in exercises and training session held jointly with Romanian military airmen.
Minister of National Defence Mircea Dusa attended, on July 19, the activities organized at the General Emanoil Ionescu 71st Airbase in Campia Turzii on the occasion of the Day of Romanian Aviation and Air Forces.
The event of July 19 at the 71st Airbase in Campia Turzii also saw the attendance of Joanne Lemay, Canada’s ambassador to Romania, who congratulated the Romanian Air Forces on the occasion of the Day of Romanian Aviation.
Since the beginning of May, over 200 Canadian servicemen have arrived in Campia Turzii where they will be billeted until autumn. The Canadian and Romanian servicemen developed a series of exercises and joint training sessions, with the aid of six CF-18 Hornet fighter jets of the Royal Canadian Air Forces. The training sessions and exercises have strengthening the partnership between Romanian and Canadian air forces as their main goal.
