The majority of the Romanians making online booking for their holidays chose Romania as their summer destination this year, with the mountain resorts being preferred by tourists nationwide, and the Black Sea resorts by the Bucharest residents, shows a study of the HotelGuru.ro booking platform.
According to the study, coming next in the ranking are Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey. 80 percent of the polled said they go on vacation in the summer, 27 percent said they spend their summer holidays at the Romanian seaside, and 41 percent said they prefer the mountain resorts.
The length of a vacation in Romania does not exceed two weeks, with an average of seven nights and an average budget of 750 lei per person. The most popular destinations among Romanian travellers are Transylvania, Bran-Moeciu, Prahova Valley, Sovata, Baile Felix spa resort, Bucovina, Maramures and the Black Sea resorts.
For a vacation abroad, the respondents said they are willing to pay between 1,000 and 3,000 lei per person, depending on the destination and the services included in the travel package.
The study also reveals that over 70 percent of the Romanians with Internet access do a lot of research online before choosing their holiday destination and accommodation, but they are still reluctant to make booking and payments online.
