Gov’t approves GEO on local elected, 45-day deadline for shifting parties

The Government approved the Emergency Ordinance allowing the local elected to opt in 45 days since the law coming into force for the party they want to be part of in the future, without losing their offices obtained in the elections, Deputy Prime Minister and Development Minister Liviu Dragnea announced on Thursday in a press conference at the end of the Government meeting.

‘This ordinance does not include anything undemocratic,’ Liviu Dragnea pointed out.

The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the main reason for which the ordinance was adopted was represented by the blockages in the local administration.

‘The main reason for which this ordinance was adopted was represented by the increasing blockages in the local administration offices,’ Liviu Dragnea added.
