President offers First Lady a statue

Basescu participated on Saturday in the Days of Sannicolau Mare, a place where in October 2009 he had launched his electoral campaign for his second term in office.

President Traian Basescu told, on Saturday, the inhabitants of Sannicolau Mare  that one cannot forget the place in which he announced his presidency candidacy and urged them to experience the same feeling, adding that “we don’t have appropriate candidacies anyway”.
Also on Saturday, the president stated that Romania is a safe country, a country where it is good to live. “I can assure you that even the crossing through the economic crisis and the security crisis which exists in the region are things that would have been worse, but first of all because the Romanians were truthful to themselves, they have accepted even if with anger the things that did happen, to happen. Today Romania is a safe country, a country where I could say it with joy is worth living in,” the president said.
Basescu’s visit at Sannicolau Mare lasted approximately three hours. He then unveiled a statue of a local personality and told his wife, who was celebrating her birthday, that she deserves a statue as she is a good wife: “Let me offer you a statue as a present, because it is your birthday, you deserve a statue!”.
