Romania’s industrial output grew by 8.5 percent over January 1- July 31, 2014 compared with the similar period of 2103 as unadjusted series and by 9.7 percent as series adjusted for working days and seasonality, the National Statistics Institute (INS) reported on Thursday. During the aforementioned period, the industrial production (the gross series) increased as a result of rises in the processing industry (+10.1 percent). The electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and production and the mining industry dropped by 2.5 percent, 0.4 percent respectively. By main industrial groupings, increases were recorded for capital goods (+14.5 percent), consumer durables (+8.9 percent), consumer non-durables (+6.3 percent) and intermediate goods (+5.4 percent). The energy industry fell 0.4 percent.
