Economic forum – China and 16 CEE states in Bucharest

A forum between China and 16 states from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) takes place every year, with some of the CEE states being EU members and some not. So far this forum has not been organized outside of China. An extraordinary diplomatic effort was needed in order for Romania to organize this forum. This is the first year when they took the decision to organize it abroad and it was a battle between us and Bulgaria, of course not a public one, because they too wanted to organize such an event. I believe the fact that after the Agriculture Minister’s visit to China it was decided to organize it in Romania is a diplomatic success because apart from the direct talks with the Agriculture Minister we had direct talks with the ministers from the 16 states. Most of them consented to Romania organizing this forum.
In other words, at Indagra there will be a round table bringing together the ministers from the 16 states and the Chinese Agriculture Minister, an event in which we will continue to look for the best ways of collaboration between our states, to the benefit of both sides. The Chinese market is huge, and they want to attract as many products as possible from this area. Romania has offered itself even to be a gate of access and that is why we want to create a special commercial center for the exports of agro-food products from the CEE. We hope to succeed. We will have a stand for each of the participating states, for the 16 states, plus 10 stands for Chinese companies that want to take part in the Indagra exhibition.
