Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Monday that no modification of the budget deficit is being considered on the second budget revision due this year.
When asked whether there are plans to modify the deficit target on the budget revision, Ponta answered: ‘Except for 0.2 percent that I’ve requested for defence spending, spending for the national defence ministry, no and neither do we need it. Our problem at this moment is that we haven’t quite managed to spend the money, it is not that the deficit is not enough’.
The prime minister also denied he was considering ending a deal with the International Monetary Fund earlier than when it expires in March.
