Over 1.5 million tourists have visited the Romanian littoral in the 2014 season, of which 5 percent were foreigners, said, on Tuesday, Lucia Morariu, the chairman of the National Association of Tourism Agencies (ANAT), in a specialty conference. ‘Our estimates are done taking into account a median occupancy level of 55 percent of accommodation structures on the entire littoral. As such we reach a figure of around 1.2 million tourists, to which we add around a third, representing children who have shared a room with their parents. According to the INS, however, we must believe that the littoral was visited by less than 900,000 tourists. There is a problem with data collection, and the figure put forward by ANAT remains at 1.5 million tourists’, said Lucia Morariu. In the current summer season, the median length of stays on the Romanian littoral was of 4.5 days, a slight decline since 2013. With all that the companies operating in the tourism sector believe that 70 percent of the tourists that visited the littoral have left satisfied by the offered services, a slight raise since 2013 when the satisfaction rate was of 50 percent.
