Free fruits for schoolchildren

At the initiative of the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry, the Romanian government has adopted a decision on the funds necessary for the distribution of fresh fruits during the 2014/2015 school year. The funds earmarked for the program total RON 64.6 M, of which RON 31.6 M are earmarked by the European Union, and the difference of RON 33 M represents the co-financing covered by the Romanian state. The limit of the funds has been maintained in school year 2014/2015 at RON 0.37 per child per day, however the period of free distribution has been expanded to 86 days, one day more than in school year 2013/2014.  The beneficiaries of this program are the 1,765,712 children enrolled in preparatory classes, primary and secondary school in the public and private education systems.
