Romanians’ confidence in politicians

Isarescu, Ponta, Iohannis on top.

Governor of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) Mugur Isarescu, national leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Victor Ponta and national leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Klaus Iohannis are topping the recent ranking of Romanians’ confidence, reveals findings of an INSCOP Research poll commissioned by daily Adevarul and conducted August 30 – September 4, released on Tuesday. Isarescu continues to be the first in the ranking, commending 40.2% of much and very much confidence (versus 41.2% in July). Ponta clings to the second place, with cu 37.4% (versus 37.3% in July), followed by Iohannis, with 34% (versus 35.9% in the July poll).
Next in the ranking are national leader of the Reformist Liberal Party (PLR) Calin Popescu Tariceanu, with 29.7% (versus 27.8% in July); Bucharest General Mayor Sorin Oprescu, with 29.4% (32.4% in July); former PSD national leader and foreign minister of Romania Mircea Geoana, with 25.4% (26.6% in July); Director of Romania’s Intelligence Service (SRI) George Maior, with 21.3% (22.8% in July); non-affiliated MEP Mircea Diaconu, with 20.9% (22.9% in July); national leader of the Civic Force (FC) Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, with 20% (21.8% in July); Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) Teodor Melescanu, with 19.2% (versus 21% in July); Romania’s former President Ion Iliescu, with 19.1% (versus 18.7% in July); Romania’s incumbent President Traian Basescu, with cu 17.5% (18.5% in July); former national leader of PNL Crin Antonescu, with 15.7% (versus 19.1% in July); MEP Theodor Stolojan, with 15.6% (17.3% in July); national leader of the People’s Movement Party (PMP) Elena Udrea, with 15.3% (versus 13.4% in July); former MEP and national leader of the Greater Romania Party (PRM) Corneliu Vadim Tudor, with 15.2% (versus 14.9% in July); First Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) Catalin Predoiu, with 14.9% (13.7% in July); PSD Secretary General Liviu Dragnea, with 14.7% (13.6% in July); PSD’s Ioan Rus, with 13.9% (for the first time included in the September poll); Monica Macovei, with 13.4% (for the first time included in the September poll); founder of the Dan Diaconescu – People’s Party (PP-DD) Dan Diaconescu, with 12.7% (11.4% in July); former PDL national leader and prime minister Emil Boc, with 10% (12.2% in July); PDL national leader Vasile Blaga, with 9% (versus 8.9% in July); national leader of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor, with 6.5% (versus 6.2% in July) and MEP Laszlo Tokes, with 4% (5.7% in July).
