Supreme Court prosecutor Angela Nicolae and her son Daniel will remain under custody in the Meat Maffia file, the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) announced in a definitive decision, as reported by Mediafax. The five ICCJ judges thus enforced the decision of the initial Court that decided, on October 29, preventive arrest of 29 days for both persons.
Attending the trial in Court, on Wednesday, Angela Nicolae told journalists that she was not guilty. “I can assure my former bosses and all my friends that I am not guilty of these crimes”, the dismissed prosecutor declared.
Her lawyer had requested that the Court meeting would be secret. The request was accepted by the five judges of the Supreme Court. So far, 17 persons, including prosecutor Angela Nicolae, her son Daniel, the leader of the evasion group, Moubarak Mahmous Sleiman and ANAF officer Antonio Burlacu, were arrested.
According to DNA, in order to recover all prejudice estimated n this case, all a levy was imposed over all sums found in the bank accounts of 40 companies involved in the evasion circuit and over 50 buildings owned by the physical persons under investigation.
