Public sector employees can once again merge pensions and salaries

The Lower Chamber adopted on Wednesday, with 220 votes in favor, 6 votes against and 41 abstentions, the legislative proposal tabled by several PSD, PC, and ethnic minorities’ MPs allowing for the merger of both a pension and a salary in the case of public sector employees too. The law repeals the stipulations of law 329/2009 which forbade the merger of the pension with the salary in the case of public sector employees for whom the level of the net pension paid surpassed the average gross salary on which the budget was based. PSD MP Ana Birchall stated that the draft law is addressing an injustice done by the Boc Government and the beneficiaries will also be persons below the standard retirement age, such as army personnel, but also other pensioners, without discrimination, Mediafax informs. The Lower Chamber is the decisional body for this draft which the Senate had previously rejected.
