Teodor Melescanu resigned from SIE to run for President

Teodor Melescanu resigned on Monday fromthe Commandment of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) and announced he would submit signaturesand his candidacy at the Central Electoral Bureau. Melescanu has held the position of Head of SIE since February 28, 2012.After announcing Melescanu’s resignation,President Traian Basescu sent a letter to the Heads of the Senate and, respectively, the Chamber of Deputies, notifying them of Teodor Melescanu’sresignation and requesting them to declare the position vacant.
