The Tarom Bucharest-Beijing flight cannot be resumed while the Russian authorities do not offer overflight clearance, Transport Minister Ioan Rus said on Wednesday. ‘Regarding the Bucharest-Beijing flight, the memorandum is signed between us and the Chinese but, for now, we have not received a favourable answer from the Russian authorities in what regards the right of overflight. As soon as we have their answer, things will come back to normal shortly’, said the minister. He explained that the agreement was necessary because any other route would mean additional expenses and would make the Bucharest-Beijing ‘hardly cost -effective’. Tarom stopped flying to Beijing in 2003 for economic reasons.
