A week with intense German-Romanian political dialogue

Last days have been marked by intense German-Romanian political talks in the fields of defense and security, education, and cooperation between the  German and Romanian parliaments as two Romanian ministers, Mircea Dusa (National Defence) and Remus Pricopie (Education) and  the Speaker of Romania’s Chamber of Deputies Valeriu Zgonea have paid visits to Germany.
According to a release remitted by the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) Wednesday to Agerpres, the  Romanian Minister of National Defence has emphasized during the meeting with his German counterpart Ursula von der Leyen, the importance of high level political-military dialogue between Bucharest and Berlin .
“There are excellent opportunities to be capitalised on by the two countries in what concerns the joint training session in the realm of Forces for Special operations, but also in the context of the Connected Forces Initiative”, said minister Mircea Dusa who  visited Germany Tuesday and Wednesday at the invitation of his German counterpart.
On that occasion, the two officials signed a Protocol between the Ministry of National Defence of Romania and the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany regarding cooperation in the military field.
Analysing the security situation on NATO’s eastern flank was another topic tackled by the two ministers. Both the Romanian minister, as well as his German counterpart agreed that the Alliance must maintain its military and political flexibility in order to be able to respond to all challenges.
Furthermore, Minister Dusa has welcomed the adoption of the NATO Framework Nations Concept, an initiative launched by Germany.
Pricopie: Romania keen to develop German-language education
Presenting the actions taken by the Romanian state to support, develop and popularize  German-language education in Romania, as well as emphasizing on the importance granted by the Romanian state to studies in the German language, on all levels, were some of the topics approached on Tuesday by Minister of National Education Remus Pricopie on the occasion of his work visit to Germany.  According to a press release of the Ministry of National Education (MEN) remitted to AGERPRES, the bilateral dialogue included identifying a series of opportunities regarding cooperation and development regarding dual-type education in Romania and equal opportunities in the education sector, including measures to support the Roma minority.  Remus Pricopie attended  the meeting with the representatives of the Federal German Parliament following the invitation addressed by the Commission for European Affairs.
Romania wants to enhance Parliamentary dialogue with Germany
Speaker of Romania’s Chamber of Deputies Valeriu Zgonea paid official visit to Germany, Wednesday and Thursday, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Parliament of the Baden-Wurttemberg land Guido Wolf.
The Chamber of Deputies reports in a press release that the visit is a way of deepening bilateral parliamentary dialogue with the Parliament of the Baden-Wurttemberg land, one of Europe’s most economically developed regions, and it brings to the fore issues of shared interest on the bilateral Romanian-German agenda, with emphasis on boosting political and economic cooperation.  ‘On Wednesday, Speaker Zgonea met Peter Hofelich, special official of the land’s government for SMEs and cooperation of riparian Danube countries; Brigitte Losch, deputy chair of the land’s Parliament as well as chairs of the MP groups in the Landtag.
