U.S. Charge d’Affairs a.i., Dean Thompson participated Friday, September, 26, in the ribbon cutting of the renovated Pediatric Orthopedic Section at the St. Mary Children’s Hospital in Iasi.
“Providing a better environment for the delivery of healthcare to children will have long lasting effects.  Better healthcare leads to better outcomes and will help the future leaders of Romania to grow and prosper,” CDA Dean Thompson said.
The renovation of the Pediatric Orthopedic Section of St. Mary’s hospital was made possible by a $300,000 contribution from the United States European Command of the U.S. Department of Defense.   St. Mary’s Emergency Hospital for Children is the largest facility of its kind in the North Eastern part of Romania.
Through the U.S. European Command Humanitarian Assistance Program, more than USD 1 million has been spent to renovate or rebuild health care facilities in Romania over the last year.
