Budget adjustment: some ministries gaining funds, others losing funds

At the end of the government meeting on Tuesday, a meeting in which the second budget adjustment this year was adopted, Premier Victor Ponta referred strictly to the main “domains” that benefit from supplementary funds, mentioning the RON 50 M earmarked for Agriculture and the RON 25 M earmarked for the Environment.
Through the budget adjustment the government is cutting approximately RON 4 bln (around EUR 900 M) from the state budget’s expenditures on co-financing projects that benefit from post-accession non-reimbursable external funds.
In his statement Ponta also mentioned the Education, Health, Labor, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Development, Justice and Public ministries, as well as the High Court of Justice, as domains that have received extra funds.
In what concerns the Transport Ministry, for which the budget adjustment draft stipulates a RON 170.2 M cut, Ponta stated only that he has given assurances that any bill for construction works financed from European funds will be discounted, however there are numerous procedures running significantly behind schedule, as well as unexecuted works.
