Tariceanu: Romania’s bet for the future is to invest in education

Senate Speaker Calin Popescu-Tariceanu stated that the high quality education can only be made with highly qualified teachers and that must be well-paid, as on contrary we could assist to a ‘haemorrhage’ of the Romanian elite., reports Agerpres.’Romania’s future can only be one grounded on good quality education, research and innovation. I believe that Romania’s bet with this future is to invest in education, in the quality of its graduates, not only in the high education system, but in the medium education, in the technical education, because this way we shall be able to become a truly competitive country in the EU and worldwide,’ Calin Popescu-Tariceanu said in the opening of the 2014-2015 university year at the Technical University of Constructions of Bucharest. The Senate Speaker advised the youth to learn, arguing that this is the only way they can succeed in life. ’The message that I want to send to the young generations must be a simple one – learn, get prepared, because this way you will succeed. Our duty is to grant education the support it deserves. When we speak of education I want you to understand well that it is not the square metres of double glazing windows that were fit in schools or faculties matter, of course this also matters, but what matters very much is to have a high quality education. A high quality education can only be done with highly qualified teachers, if we want to have highly qualified teachers then we must pay them better, otherwise we will surely assist to a haemorrhage of the Romanian elite, be them engineers, be them doctors,’ Tariceanu showed.
