The fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 led over to the (re)unification of the Eastern and Western parts of Germany on October 3, 1990. October 3rd known since then as the German Unity Day –Tag der Deutschen Einheit– is a day of celebration and full of significance not only for Germany, that has started a new chapter in its history, but also for the whole Europe. Since 1990, every anniversary of its putting back on the map as a single, unified country, has been for the unified Germany, an excellent opportunity to explore with vision, ambition and pragmatism the present and future challenges ahead, while looking back at the past and learning its lessons.
Today, the 24th anniversary of reunification finds Germany with a consolidated and influenced role in Europe and in the world arena, being one of the most respected voices at European and global political level (in European Union, NATO, United Nations, G8, etc), but also one of the most developed world economies.
In addition, Germany has lots of reasons today to be very proud of, having in mind the famous German “brands” in various fields that are very spread all over the world and bring prestige to this nation.
And it’s not only about automobile industry where brands such as BMW, Daimler Benz, Mercedes, Opel , VW or Audi rank first on world markets and bring fame to this country, but also Germany’s contribution to the world’s cultural patrimony is very rich.
