Parliament validated yesterday Cornel Coca Constantinescu for the position of First Vice President of the Financial Supervision Authority (ASF), a position that had remained vacant after Daniel Daianu’s departure to the National Bank of Romania (BNR) and Marius Vorniceanu, Court of Accounts council member and former head of the Financial Guard, for the position of Vice President responsible for insurances, after Corneliu Moldoveanu was revoked yesterday from office by Parliament because he was sent to court by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) in the ‘Carpatica’ corruption case.Dan Armeanu, professor of finances and insurances at the Academy of Economic Sciences (ASE), was appointed non-executive member of ASF, on the position vacated by Coca Constantinescu.ASF was established in April last year, through the merger of three separate supervisory commissions: CNVM on the capital market, CSA on the insurance market and CSSPP on the private pensions market. The leadership structure is now completely different than the one with which the institution had set off in the spring of 2013. Today the Council has nine seats, compared to 17 seats a year ago. However, the leadership structure is still not complete. Misu Negritoiu is the President of ASF.
