Almost 5,500 new cars registered in September

Dacia, Volkswagen and Skoda top the rankings of new car makes registered in September, with a total volume of 2,816 units, show the provisional statistics made public by the Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration Department /DRPCIV/.
According to provisional data, the total number of new car registrations stood in September at 5,547 units, for now down by 13.46% from the previous month, when 6,410 units were registered.
Of a total of almost 5,500 new cars registered, most of these continued to be Dacia, with 1,447 units, followed by Volkswagen (819), Skoda (550), Ford (487), Skoda (751) and Renault (341).
On the other hand, the fewest registrations were recorded by Volvo (18), Porsche (13), Mini (10), Chevrolet (4), Jaguar (3) and Lexus, Maserati, Ssang Yong, Subaru and Alfa Romeo (one unit each).
According to the DRPCIV in late 2013, the national car fleet of Romania reached approximately 5.98 million units, up by 4.73% compared to the same period a year earlier. Of this total, almost 4.7 million units were cars, and over 3.3 million are powered by petrol engines.
At the same time, 1.91 million vehicles in the national car fleet were older than 6 – 10 years, and 1.42 million units had a wear degree between 11 and 15 years. Almost 1.14 million cars were older than 20 years.
Moreover, as many as 2.35 million Romanians preferred cars on Diesel engines and 3.32 million – petrol-powered ones.
