In 2015 the government plans to continue the action of floating large state-owned companies on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB). Hidroelectrica, Aerorporturi Bucharest, Oltenia Energy Company and Constanta Port are being considered, among others.
“While 2013 and 2014 were development years for the Bucharest Stock Exchange, I want very much for 2015 and 2016 to continue that trend, and for the government’s involvement, in what concerns the legislation and the decision to float companies that are still part of the government’s portfolio, to support this development of the capital market,” Premier Ponta said when opening the trading day at the Bucharest Stock Exchange on Monday. He pointed out that he knows the request addressed to him to finalize the structural reform by adopting a law that would facilitate operations on the stock exchange through higher transparency and openness towards capital flows, and gave assurances that such a law will be drafted.
