ArcelorMittal Galati to produce over 2 million tons of steel in 2015

ArcelorMittal Galati would have to invest EUR 100 M in order to attain the performances of a modern steel plant, Ionel Bors, the company’s country manager for Romania, stated on Thursday. “At one point we will invest this money,” Bors stated at a conference.
ArcelorMittal Galati is one of the biggest consumers of electricity in Romania. In September the plant announced that it seeks to hike production by 15 per cent in 2015, to more than 2 million tons, as a result of technological upgrades worth EUR 10 M and of the fact that the state “has restored” the business environment’s competitiveness.
ArcelorMittal Galati estimates it will produce 1.6 million tons of steel this year, and in 2015 the production will surpass 2 million tons. The company is part of ArcelorMittal, the biggest steel producer in the world, controlled by Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal and present in over 60 countries.
