Tariceanu: “I am the only contender with a country project and rich political experience”

Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, who runs for President as independent with the support of the Liberal Reformist Party (PLR), said on Wednesday in the city of Slobozia that the strong points that recommend him for the top position in the state are connected to his rich experience as a politician and the fact that, of all the candidates, he is the only one with a presidential programme.
“Of all the candidates with a noticeable share in the voting intention polls, I am the only one with a presidential programme. A presidential programme does not mean just listing some phrases and universally applicable principles, but a country project. And my country project is this: ‘Romania, the seventh power in Europe!'” Tariceanu told a press conference.
According to him, another decisive argument in favor of his presidential bid is his experience in politics.
“The second criterion I have in mind and which, I think, cannot go unnoticed by the citizens, is my experience as a politician. In 24 years I have progressively climbed the stair, I was first an MP, then a Minister, a Prime Minister, and today I am Speaker of the Senate. I am experienced, I have learned a lot during this period. And definitely, with this political experience at a certain level, accompanied by my achievements as a statesman, I think I have left something behind. It’s the imprint of the 2004 – 2008 governance which for many Romanians has meant a period of welfare, with a lot of investments, growing salaries and pensions, and during which new schools and kindergartens have been built,” stressed the presidential hopeful.
