Almost 800,000 tons of wheat exported to Egypt

Romania is the main exporter
Since the start of the year until October 1, Romania has exported 780,000 tons of wheat to Egypt (one of the biggest buyers on the world market), just like it did in 2013. This figure was the result of the good wheat crops registered in the last two years in our country. According to GAEC, the Egyptian state-owned company that purchases wheat on the basis of international tenders, Russia was on second place this year with 650,000 tons of wheat exported to Egypt (compared to 540,000 tons in 2013). France was third (360,000 tons compared to zero tons in 2013), followed by Ukraine with 55,000 tons (compared to 590,000 tons last year) and the US with 55,000 tons (zero tons in 2013).
The changes in the rankings and the emergence of new exporters on the Egyptian market have come about as a result of the conflicts in the Black Sea area but also of the stability of production in Romania, the third-largest grain exporter in the Black Sea area. The aforementioned figures were taken from FranceAgriMer, a prestigious French institution.
