Roma Party supports Ponta for the elections

UNPR signed on Monday a collaboration agreement with the Roma Democrat Alliance Party (PADR), led by Dorin Cioaba, regarding support granted to Victor Ponta’s candidacy for the Presidential elections. The agreement was signed by the general secretary of the Union, Neculai Ontanu, and by the PADR leader.
After signing the agreement to support Victor Ponta, Dorin Cioaba declared that the UNPR candidate would benefit of several hundreds of thousands of Roma votes, as Romas are expecting him to suggest them whom to vote for and their vote can be controlled, as centralized data shows. “Many people in Roma communities are working together with us and waiting for my message in order to focus on one of the Presidential candidates. We may say that we estimate several hundreds of thousands of votes from the Roma communities. (…) Many of the votes will come from abroad, as there are huge Roma communities in Spain and Italy, we are connected to them and they are part of our organization”, Cioaba pointed out.
“Therefore, my message is that Roma may make a difference between the candidates”, Cioaba concluded, also pointing out that the agreement signed with UNPR stipulates support for UNPR candidates during the elections of 2016, in the cities and villages with massive Roma communities.
Cioaba  also mentioned having discussed a similar agreement with Elena Udrea during the spring. “This agreement was not signed as we saw Elena Udrea was, let’s put it this way, not very serious. She kept delaying us. She once said she would put one of our candidates on her list, yet it did not happen. We are endowed with common sense and we understand being refused”, Cioaba outlined.
The Roma leader also showed that PADR’s offer was addressed to “everybody”, PNL included, but UNPR was the only party that agreed to sign the agreement.
On Friday, the self-proclaimed international king of Roma, Dorin Cioaba announced that PADR was registered by a definitive sentence issued by the Bucharest Court.
