The elections campaign is prolonging the school textbooks crisis and Romanian pupils might have textbooks on their desks only after the presidential elections, according to the publishing houses. Although Education Ministry officials have signed the framework contract with the publishing houses that won the tender for the delayed printing of school textbooks, the latter claim that the presses are blocked by the elections campaign. “We are busy with the promotional materials for the elections campaign. If we receive orders for textbooks we can prioritize them, add a nightshift, however it matters for the paper suppliers to have on stock the quantity we need, we’re talking about truckloads of paper,” the representatives of the presses stated, confirming for ‘Adevarul’ daily that the pupils will have textbooks only after the presidential elections.
