Basescu says Melescanu misinformed

President Traian Basescu continued yesterday evening the series of attacks against Premier Victor Ponta and former Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) director, Teodor Melescanu, in the “covert officer” scandal launched two days ago.  He qualified Ponta as “profiteer” and said that Teodor Melescanu misinformed with his statements in the public space. Basescu explained that the document he showed on Monday at Realitatea TV to support his accusations was non-classified, being an address from the official correspondence between the state institutions.
Basescu accused Melescanu of not being a good jurist because he doesn’t know to interpret the law which allows the head of state to have access to state secret informations. Last but not least, Basescu said he took notice of by SIE communiqué, but he expressed his surprise about its mixture in the political struggle. ”For me it’s a huge enigma.”
