Agricultural exports up by EUR 300 M

The agricultural trade balance registers a surplus after seven months, with exports growing by EUR 300 M and imports dropping by EUR 50 M, Daniel Dumitru Botanoiu, secretary of state within the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry, has revealed on Thursday. “Unfortunately these exports consist of raw materials, which means export of subsidies and it’s not gladdening. For this reason, through the future rural development program we have sought to restructure the points system on the basis of which subsidies are offered,” Daniel Botanoiu stated.
According to the data offered by the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry (MADR), Romania exported agro-food products worth EUR 2.03 bln in the first half of 2014, up by almost 10 per cent (EUR 180.9 M) year-on-year, while imports totaled EUR 2.32 bln, up by 1.1 per cent (EUR 25.7 M) year-on-year.
