This year’s edition of the Halloween Charity Ball challenges its guests to have spectacular appearances for an unique evening. The guests are awaited on October 25 at the Parliament Palace in the most sensational outfits based on the topic of the party, “Film Magic”.
Leslie Hawke and Maria Gheorghiu, co-founders of the OvidiuRo Association, will greet the guests in vintage costumes. For one night, Leslie will be Fred Astaire. “This year, I will be Fred Astaire because I have an absolutely fabulous male tailcoat, designed in that period, and I never had the opportunity to wear it so far”, Hawke declared. Maria Gheorghiu says she will impersonate Marilyn Monroe, “due to the dress, not due to the actress. I always wanted to wear the white dress Marilyn was photographed wearing at the subway.”
Amalia Enache and Dragos Bucurenci, the hosts of the event, have also decided whom to embody.
Amalia has chosen the famous character Ciuleandra, in both her versions, Madalina and Madeleine. “I have imagined myself on the stage of the Bucharest Charity Ball as Sylvia from “La dolce vita” or Amelie from “The fabuleux destin d’Amelie Poulain” or as one of the characters in “The Lord of the Rings” or “Game of Thrones”. Yet, I realised that I actually wanted, from the bottom of my heart, to be an authentic Romanian on stage. This is why I chose Ciuleandra, in both her versions: as a country girl, in a haute couture creation by Valentina Vidrascu, but also a French-influence city girl, for the second half of the ball. This option fits the message by OvidiuRo, which grants very poor Romanian children access to education, turning them into cultivated people. Besides, I have a highly sentimental and very personal story related to Ciuleandra”, Amalia said.
Dragos will bring a romantic mood on the stage of Bucharest Charity Ball, straight from the best known classical film of all times, “Gone with the wind”. “As I love classical roles and I wanted to be a character played by Clark Gable, I chose Rhett Butler, his most famous part.”
Cabral will host the “Each Donor Is a Winner” Awards, accompanied by Adela Vrinceanu Celibidache and Bryan Jardine and will embody Samuel L. Jackson’s character in “Pulp Fiction”.
“I have supported OvidiuRo for many years and I consider them to be one of the most serious non-governmental associations in our country. Major actions and projects were developed based on funds raised by OvidiuRo, so, each time, I do anything in my power to help them”, the Pro TV star declared.
This year’s ball is all the more important as the Association OvidiuRo, founded by Leslie Hawke and Maria Gheorghiu, celebrates its 10th anniversary. The funds raised this evening will determine the number of children to be helped next year by the program “Every Child in Kindergarten”, so that they could benefit of preschool education. This week, over 2000 poor children will go to kindergarten due to this program.
Halloween Charity Ball was announced for October 25 and will reunite businesspeople, politicians, ambassadors, mass media and civil society representatives.
