Danube bridge to be rehabilitated in Giurgiu

The National Highways and Roads Company (CNADNR) has come up with a piece of gladdening news on the infrastructure market. CNADNR representatives have pointed out that the company has offered to the Collini Lavori (Italy) and Tecnic Consulting Engineering Romania consortium a contract worth RON 57.2 M (EUR 13 M), VAT included, for the rehabilitation of the bridge spanning the Danube in Giurgiu.
The contract for the rehabilitation of the bridge, including the access road from the customs office, was offered on Friday to the consortium led by Collini Lavori.
The works include the consolidation of the bridge, of the road and access ramp, the rehabilitation of existing parking lots and the construction of a new parking lot inside the customs point, as well as the construction of a roundabout.
The project was won following an open tender, the selection criteria being the lowest price and the winning bid being the only one admitted from among five.
The contract, initially estimated at RON 71.8 M, was offered for RON 46.1 M, VAT not included.
The financing of the construction works will come from European funds and budget funds, the works set to last 40 months from the moment the contract is offered.
In November 2013, CNADNR offered to Italian construction company Collini Lavori a RON 151 M contract, VAT not included, for the construction of Targu Jiu’s beltway.
The Giurgiu – Ruse (Bulgaria) “Friendship Bridge” was opened in 1954. The second bridge linking the two countries over the Danube is the Calafat-Vidin bridge inaugurated last year.
