King Mihai’s 93rd anniversary marked with events in Bucharest and Sinaia

The Royal House of Romania on Tuesday released a schedule of events to be held in Bucharest and Sinaia, October 23-30, to celebrate King Mihai I’s 93rd birth anniversary.
The series of events starts on Thursday, October 23, with a decoration ceremony, followed by a reception at Peles Palace in Sinaia.
In the evening, heiress apparent Margareta will decorate in the name of King Mihai public personalities as well as landmark institutions of Romania, in the Honorary Hall of Peles Castle. The princess will be accompanied by Prince Radu. The ceremony will be followed by a reception party in the castle’s Music Hall.
Also on Thursday evening, the State Lounge of Peles Castle will be the venue of a dinner party in honour of King Mihai, on his 93rd birth anniversary. Attending the dinner party, hosted by heiress apparent Margareta and Prince Radu will be personalities of the cultural and diplomatic worlds as well as distinguished representatives of the clergy and the civil society.
On Saturday evening, October 25, the Romanian Athenaeum of Bucharest will host the 7th edition of an annual charity concert organised by the Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation.
The money raised from the concert will be used to assist young artists, the beneficiaries of the Foundation’s programmes. The Royal Concert will be staged by pianist Alexandra Dariescu and the orchestra of the Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation, under the baton of Tiberiu Soare. Mounted in the foyer will be stalls with books about the royal family, including ‘Anul Regelui’ (The King’s Year), ‘Masinile Regelui’ (The King’s Automobiles), ‘Muzica Regelui’ (The King’s Music), ‘Jubileul Regelui'(The King’s Jubilee) and ‘Lumea Regelui’ (The King’s World) published by the Curtea Veche Publishing House and the Polirom Publishing House.
On Thursday, October 30, in the afternoon, the Auditorium of the Carol I Central University Library will host the public presentation of a stamp issue dedicated to King Mihai I to be released by Romfilatelia. The presentation will be accompanied by a classical music recital of the Camerata Regala, the royal music chamber orchestra.
In the library’s foyer, Romfilatelia will mount a stall to display post stamps, where also exhibited will be the latest books about the royal family published by the Curtea Veche Publishing House.
Princess Margartea and Prince Radu will attend the event, where also invited to take part are members of the diplomatic corps, the Government, as well as prestigious public figures of Romania.
Romania’s former royal ruler, King Mihai I, on the throne in 1927-1930 and 1940-1947, was born on October 25, 1921 in Sinaia to King Carol II and Queen Elena, princess of Greece.
