According to authorized sources, Egypt has imported 2,075,000 tons of wheat from the world market from July 1 to October 10, the imports being made by GASC, a Ministry of Industry and Commerce body tasked with the public purchase of cereals. 40.5 per cent of this quantity came from Romania, 30 per cent from Russia and 23 per cent from France. Egypt’s imports from the US and Ukraine are far behind those from the aforementioned countries.
