ANRE: Romania to no longer be dependent on imported gas

Romania has all the chances to no longer be dependent on imported natural gas from Gazprom. According to Niculae Havrilet, President of the Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE), the share of imported natural gas has dropped from 35 per cent several years ago to 9-10 per cent this year, and the share is set at 2 per cent for November 2014. Thus, the opinions of some European Commission officials who saw Romania as one of the states that will stand to suffer this winter because of the alleged reductions in Gazprom exports have been dismissed. The European Commission official probably meant Poland or Slovakia, not Romania.
