15pct of Romanians go on business trips, 57pct go on leisure ones

The percentage of the Romanians going on business trips has reached 15pct in 2014 from 10pct in 2006, with 44pct of these having traveled throughout Romania and 12pct in Europe, according to a survey published on Monday by the Romanian Audit Bureau Transmedia (BRAT).  Of these, 70pct are men and 30pct women, aged between 24 and 45, with higher incomes and higher education.
According to the BRAT, 57pct of Romanians go on leisure trips compared to 67pct in 2009, and Romania continues to be the preferred holiday destination (66pct of the surveyed ones), although the percentage is lower than it was in 2010, when 77pct of Romanians spent their holidays in the country.
The number of Romanians who choose to spend their holidays in Europe is going up, to 14pct, from 10pct in 2006.  Only 17pct of those who have gone at least on one leisure trip in the past year have used a travel agency. As to holiday destinations in 2015, 46pct of Romanians say that they want to go to Europe and 16pct to another continent.  The survey covers the period 2006-2014 and it is represented by the urban population aged between 14 and 64.
