ANRE informs that regulated prices on the natural gas market for non-household consumers will be completely eliminated at the start of next year, and consumers will have to negotiate new prices with their suppliers by December 31, 2014.
From November 1 to December 31, suppliers have to notify on a daily basis the non-household consumers that are part of their portfolio, have not exercised their right of eligibility and have not opted for supply in a negotiated regime, that regulated prices will be eliminated on 1 January 2015 and that they have to sign a new contract with new prices. Likewise, suppliers have to offer industrial consumers a new price offer.
For household consumers full liberalization was scheduled on 31 December 2018, however Parliament has voted to extend this deadline by two and a half years.
Energy Minister Razvan Nicolescu recently stated that the decision to postpone the natural gas liberalization timetable for household consumers will not be revised despite the fact that a recent European Commission report states that Romania should stick to the previous timetable.
