MOL reaches market share of 15 pc in Romania

As announced recently, MOL Group has received the green light to purchase 42 Agip gas stations in Romania. As a consequence, MOL Group will total 190 units on the Romanian market. After this purchase MOL will have a market share of 15 per cent in Romania, this in fact being the goal set for the end of 2015. The transaction – which for the time being is the most important on the fuel distribution market this year – received the green light from the European Commission’s General Directorate for Competition at the end of September.
This measure is part of the oil company’s growth strategy. “This acquisition represents a moment that marks our strategy of enlarging our network of gas stations in Central and Eastern Europe. In the Czech Republic the average sales of the gas stations purchased are in the top three positions in the rankings of retail fuel companies. Moreover, MOL Group will own the second-largest network of gas stations in the Czech Republic,” the company official added.
